CLAIMING YOUR PLAYER
We load official season stats from real leagues — CSSHL, WHL, NCAA, JPHL, BC minor hockey, and more. That means your player may already be in Shift Excellence, with their real games and numbers waiting. Claiming makes that profile yours.
When we load a league, every player on every roster gets a profile with their official season stats — games played, goals, assists, and more. Until it's claimed, the profile has no account attached. It just sits there, private, waiting for you.
Claiming is free. There's nothing to buy — you're simply telling us "that's my child's profile" so it connects to your account.
During onboarding, enter their name and birth year. Misspellings are okay — the search is forgiving. You may also get a direct claim link from your team's coach.
You'll see the name, team, and jersey number to confirm the match. The birth year has to line up with our records — a mismatch is rejected, so nobody claims the wrong player.
All the loaded season stats come with it. If your co-parent claimed the player first, claiming links you to the same profile instead of creating a duplicate.
Unclaimed players are never shown publicly. There's no public profile page for an unclaimed player, and we never publish our ratings for a player until their family has claimed them.
The season stats we hold are the official league stats that leagues already publish. If you'd rather your player not be listed at all, contact support — we'll remove the profile, and it stays removed.
Their league probably isn't loaded yet. Onboarding never dead-ends — tell us the league when the search comes up empty and we'll add it, then email you when your player is ready to claim.
You can also create the player by hand and start uploading games right away — nothing is blocked while you wait.
